Where It Oughtta Be

In a very, very small slice of Houston, a late-afternoon summer squall triggered a local flash-flood warning and knocked out power at dinner time. The quiet was eerie, as the TV sets fell silent in the apartment-dense McCully area of Honolulu.

Luckily, we had already made dinner. Three generations of family members, undistracted, talked to each other by LED-light. Yes, we did send and receive a few text messages, but that was only to warn off a few that were trying to make it through traffic.

A little over an hour later power was restored, and the pace of Island life got back to where it oughtta be.
