Buckling Road

We're used to seeing roads rendered impassable by mudslides or sinkholes, but this is the first time your humble blogger has seen mudslides buckle the road like an earthquake:
A mudslide triggered by storms that rocked the Bay Area this week caused some extreme warping and buckling to a road in Novato, officials said.

The slip caused "significant erosion" on the hillside and uncovered a PG&E gas line and possibly created pressure on the North Marin Water District aqueduct that runs from Sonoma County to Marin, the county said in a statement Thursday.
Over the past decade we've learned that we are far from safe from Mother Nature, which is full of dangerous surprises.
